1966 Ford Mustang GT350R Tribute $82,000

From Blackdog Performance Cars
1966 Ford Mustang GT350R Tribute $82,000

For sale at Blackdog Performance Cars is a killer 1966 Ford Mustang GT350R Tribute. Powering this 66’ Fastback is 1971 302 CID V8 with 289 heads, four 48 IDA Weber carburetors, and a Shelby Cobra Weber 48 IDA intake. The T5 5-speed manual transmission transfers the ponies to the 9-inch rear end with 3.89 gears and a locking differential. The 15-inch Torq Thrust wheels are wrapped in Goodyear bias ply race tires, which are non-street legal, but carry on the period correct look perfectly. To help stop this GT350R Tribute are Granada spindles and discs up front and Wilwood disc brakes in the rear.

Inside the car is pretty basic, as a race car tends to be. The heater, radio, and ash tray have all been removed, while a fuel gauge has been mounted under the dash. You have 2 low back GT350R-style seats that are mounted on sliders to accommodate different sized passengers, while the rear seats were removed to make room for the matching spare tire mounted on the rear shelf.

Outside, the body features several GT350R styling cues, functional fiberglass hood and side scoops, C-pillar vent deletes, fiberglass rear decklid, front valance, and rear window. The car was repainted the factory Wimbledon White with the Guardsman Blue body and side stripes about nine years ago.

All four Webers are tuned and purring like kittens in unison. The T5 5-speed manual transmission features a lightweight flywheel, Superior Clutch, a hydraulic clutch master and slave, and a Quicktime SFI bellhousing. The 9-inch rear end puts the ponies to the pavement via 3.89 gears and a locking differential.

When you peer passed the classic wood-rimmed steering wheel with the Cobra center cap you will see the period style Stewart Warner gauge cluster. A Hurst shifter and white shift knob put you in direct contact with the car from start to finish. You have 2 low back GT350R-style seats that are mounted on sliders to accommodate different sized passengers, while the rear seats were removed to make room for the matching spare tire mounted on the rear shelf. Race style seat belt fasteners not only look correct, but they also do a great job of keeping you inside those rigid racing seats.

The paint is not perfect, you can see a blemish here and there, but the car shows extremely well.

This 1966 Mustang is as good of Tribute as you will find, correct track tires, body panels, and functioning body scoops, she begs for more, and is now ready for a new driver to fill the seat. Currently, this Mustang GT350R Tribute is set up great for an occasional track day car, with a few tweaks, it would be an awesome street cruiser and make all the Mustang fans jealous on cruise night.
