This multiple race winning, 751HP/ 597 Ft/Lbs of torque real deal 1965 Big Block A/P Corvette Coupe is ready for a new pilot.

Successfully raced in vintage racing events since 2010. Last event was SVRA Indy 2016. Prior to Indy the last race was Road America Fall Vintage race in 2015, after that the car was completely gone through.

Car is well sorted and fresh. Engine and driveline were completely gone through then taken out for an easy break-in session at Indy. All fluids have been changed since break in procedure, the entire car had a “nut and bolt” done to it, valves lashed, plugs read and changed and all post and pre race maintenance done. This car is fresh and ready to race.  The car has been through tech at every race without issue. It has been weighed, the engine has been pumped, and it has been closely inspected with wheels off by officials.

Includes an extensive spare parts package, multiple sets of wheels and tires (dry/rains), two additional hoods painted with the car with different hood bulge/ scoop styles.

Body: Original Nassau Blue coded big block car is painted in the correct original color with white racing stripe and clear coat. The paint was wet sanded and buffed glassy smooth with no orange peel.  This car has had an enormous amount of time put into fit and finish as well as the mechanical aspects.  Body has had minor customizing done for both racing and cosmetic purposes. Rear body panel is fiber-glassed solid to the valance, then molded smooth and filled around bumper mounts. Headlamp openings have been glassed shut. Note that the retaining plates for the headlamp assemblies are still on steel header panel under the fiberglass so the car could be converted back to operating concealed headlamps if desired. The front turn signal openings have been contoured and smoothed for max air flow through the opening and are connected directly to one of the 3 vent tubes for each front brake rotor.  Wiper vent panels were reworked and arched to fit the cowl properly. The custom-made aluminum front spoiler has a second set of front brake vents mounted flush. The lower front valance has been modified to collect air under the grille opening and direct it into the coolers and core support area directly from the spoiler. The core support has been sealed to hood and fenders to force all incoming air through coolers and brake vents.

The grille is the lighter all aluminum version of the 65 style.

The current and best functioning hood that has been used is a pin on 63 Grand Sport style with a custom cold air setup and two heat extractors at the rear. 3 hoods were tested both on track and on a chassis dyno with the hood shut and wind simulation for air flow to the carburetor with a sealed air pan. The Grand Sport hood was the best for horsepower. This hood was also large enough to help cool down the engine bay with rear hot air extractors. Also note the old super stock drag racer trick of intentional misalignment at the rear to allow hot air out of the engine bay. Other hoods tested were a Penske replica 66 hood and a 4” high L88 hood. Surprisingly these both lost power on this body style. Corvette racers are well aware of the engine bay heat issues. This car does not have that problem.

Rear interior floor and trans tunnel are removable for ease of trans, clutch, and rear suspension service.

Body is solid mounted with aluminum mounts to frame.

The areas on the body that normally get road rash from racing were covered with the extra thick 3M clear protector tape from day one. That tape and all decals are currently removed so buyers can see the true condition of the paint and install the numbers and decals they wish.

This car has never been wrecked. Frame is a straight rust-free piece.

Interior:  The stock dash panel is still intact. The top and waterfall areas have been carefully smoothed and molded before painting satin black. The factory gauges are all calibrated. The oil psi gauge face was changed to 100psi factory style face. The tach is a 7000 redline---. And most notable gauge is a Corvette 200 mph speedometer. An electric speedometer conversion has to be used for the speedo because the racing transmissions do not have speedo gears in them. All of the switches for Starter, Ignition, Fuel pump, fans, water pump, diff pump, and cool suit are all on the waterfall area of dash along with 3 extra gauges. An Oil temp, crank case vacuum, and hour meter. The crank case vacuum measures the negative crankcase vacuum that the dry sump system will pull. The more you have the more power the engine makes and the healthier it is.

There are two dash mounted brake bias controls, a custom-built light weight steering column has been slightly relocated for driver comfort in the small cockpit. Onboard fire extinguisher, master on-off switch and a Fast brand cool suit system including the ice box, pumps, air intake fan, air tubes, water lines, and dash controller. The car is outfitted with a Trackmate data acquisition system.  Driver has a window net. The roll cage side bars are arched and contoured outward for the driver’s comfort, protection, and easy entry or exit. The lightweight aluminum steering wheel is powder coated in a mild textured finish for grip and is removable. The light weight 20lb 800 amp Braille battery is mounted in RR of interior with fabricated chromed brackets. All the electronics are neatly hidden behind the lightened original glove box door. Every ounce of unused original wiring has been removed for weight and wiring neatness. Spark is from a NASCAR MSD box with the MSD HVC coil and MSD tach drive distributor. It has an adjustable timing retard system for starting. There is no side glass or hard ware in the doors but all the parts go with the car. The front and rear windows are lexan with the factory moldings installed on the GM clips with #6 screws in the corners to help retain the moldings at speed. The front air vents are functional into the cabin, and there are air relief holes in the rear of the cabin in addition to the quarter panel side vents being made to function to also let hot air out.

Frame: Beautiful solid clean frame has been strengthened where needed.

Frame has been modified to have a removable trans cross member.

Multipoint roll cage protrudes through the floors and is completely welded to the frame.

Front cross member is notched and boxed for the dry sump pump.

Rear tire clearencing has been done that does not change the configuration of the frame or violate rules.

Fuel: Fuel Safe fuel cell custom built by Fuel Safe using the steel shell from the Corvette fuel tank. Hi volume electric pump mounted next to tank, Aircraft braided line front to back. Hi flow regulator with adjustable restricted return vent line. Highly modified Pro Systems Holley 4159 1000cfm mech DP Stagger Jetted safe. Work has been done to the low and mid range circuits to keep the engine clean and make it accelerate harder off the corners. This engine can idle all day without fouling spark plugs or overheating.

Rear suspension: Modified to control Camber and bump steer with a very unique and race legal setup. Offset swing arms with greasable front swivel steel joints.

Double adjustable shocks on all 4 corners. Duntov Positive Heim jointed rear spring mounts on shortened composite spring. Have extra springs. Upper adjustable control arms added to control camber and take the side load off of the axels and bearings. The half shaft is no longer doing double duty as an upper control arm.

Adjustable swing arm rear sway bar. Have 3 sizes of splined bars for rear.

Solid mounted center section using the best of Tom’s internals. The posi has been setup very tight. 3:55 gears. All internal parts are coated, heat treated, and fresh.  Aluminum Duntov ZO6 cover. Billet aluminum rear bearing support caliper brackets. Electric gear lube pump is plumbed with braided lines to the rear mounted differential oil cooler. Chrome moly drive shaft with 1350 joints and billet yokes front and rear. Aluminum 4” half shafts with 1350’s. Tom’s billet inner and outer axels and pinion yoke. Lots of spare rear end parts. Front control arms modified, steel greasable metal bushings. Gun drilled, splined, adjustable front sway bar.

Front suspension: Delphi Power steering box. Large bearing later model 69 and up Corvette knuckles, Billet aluminum front bearing hubs. Hemi jointed Tie rods, Heavy duty GM center link, and adjustable bump steer kit.

Brakes: Front calipers flipped top rear of knuckle. Fabricated vents and backing plates added. J56 Brake calipers. Titanium pistons, Carbotech pads, Dual masters with front-back bias adjuster on dash. Also have a rear only fluid pressure bias adjuster on dash. You have 2 methods of keeping the brake bias right on while racing. 2-piece Coleman rotors lightened, balanced, directional venting, larger vent holes, and special sizing within Corvette rotor specs. Aluminum hats.

Wheels tires: 2 sets of period correct Custom built light weight ET 5 spoke wheels. 15x8.5 fronts and 15x9.5 rears with Hoosiers 25.5x10.5 front and 27.5x11.5 rear. Also one set of American Torque thrusts with Good year rain tires. Car works well with either Hoosier or Good year Blue streaks.

Transmission and clutch:

4 speed G-Force Clutch-less gear box with Long shifter. Lightweight Aluminum Scattershield, McLeod Aluminum flywheel 8” with dual sintered iron disc HD clutch set up. This clutch simply doesn’t wear or fail like the smaller units will. Trans and clutch have proven to be indestructible for me. Clutch was just serviced and although it didn’t need, the discs were replaced along with the throw release and pilot bearing. Trans inspected and was again perfect inside. Trans has a built in mechanical fluid pump for cooler. Trans oil cooler at front of car plumbed with braided lines. Heim jointed clutch linkage with easy adjustments at top and bottom of car. EZ fill access hole for gear box lube inside car.

Engine: Built by a legendary Chicago race engine builder.

Iron Chevrolet 4 bolt main 427 block plus 300. Custom built 12.8-1 ultra light weight coated forged pistons with gas ported relief holes. Full floated light weight titanium pins. Forged H-beam rods, Light weight forged billet knife edged crank. The usual “blue printing” for a race engine. Aviad Dry 4 stage sump, custom pan, Tank in RF of passenger compartment. Jones drive cog system. Electric water pump for consistent even water flow and cooling. Hi amp alternator.

AFR Aluminum cylinder heads extensively ported and bench flowed. The 2.25, 1.90 Valves, springs, retainers, keepers, and lifters are all titanium. A Jessel Belt drive and Jessel shaft mount 1.8 rockers are used along with Manton push rods. The entire valve train is new. Custom grind Comp cam solid roller with 4-7 swap. Note I have tried 6 cams in the past years ending up with this as the best for power and torque with this cars combination. This is a unique custom grind for this combination. Custom cast “Corvette” valve covers with remote oil separator.

Spec Edlebrock intake with extensive interior porting. Stahl headers short tube equal length 2 1/8” id primary pipes, with 4” side pipes. Note the tuning of the side pipes as they are slightly shorter than the normal length you see. Dyno work was done with the side pipes on and the headers used that are used in the car. That shop uses a plate between the header and head to measure EGT.

Dyno result 751HP measured from 7000rpm to 7500rpm. Long strong torque curve. 597 ft lbs @ 6500. It’s already building 580 ft lbs at 5000 rpms. Very fast rate of acceleration was measured on the dyno. The acceleration rate was too fast for the Dyno to record in some rpm areas. That’s what you want! Engine can be driven around at lower rpms with ease for practice. And punished hard for qualifying and race day with NO overheating. The engine was taken out of the car running still strong after a win at Road America to be freshened. It had been in for 3 seasons without issue. This is unheard of for an engine at this power level but it is true and is what I paid for when having it built. Durability was the number one thing with this build and it has proven itself. Since then I have taken it out once to break everything in.

A complete binder with extensive notes, build specs, engine builder contact info, Cam specs, spring rates, sway bar sizing, suspension alignment settings, weight bias of car on scales, Trans gear ratios, carb jetting, ignition timing, head and intake porting specs to be transferred with sale. Sale also includes the complete Traqmate GPS Data Acquisition system installed in the car.

This is a well-known, turnkey, front-running, vintage legal, extremely competitive 1965 Big Block Corvette that has been built with the best components and techniques throughout. It is being offered at a fraction of its build cost not to mention including many thousands of dollars in spares and the aforementioned data acquisition and driver comfort systems.

So, the only question that should remain is “Are you ready to run up front?”
